A setting, not a script
A doorway theatre says: here is a stage. It does not say which character wins. A table playhouse says: here is a room. It does not dictate who lives there.
Physical limits can create imagination
A piece of textile, a puppet and a frame offer fewer prebuilt outcomes than a screen. That limitation is useful; it gives the child work to do.
Objects can live with the home
Play does not need to look like a separate electronic system. Soft architecture can fold, move and return to the room without taking it over.
